Working with The Danger Days was one of my favorite shooting experiences. Coming into the production Paul, the band’s drummer, knew exactly how he wanted the video to look and trusted myself and the rest of the crew enough to allow us to present new ideas and solutions to the various problems a production can present. While the production was certainly challenging at times, and we all felt fatigued as the shoot stretched into the long hours of the night, it was some of the most fun I’ve had during a production.
Jay and Sean, lead singer and bassist for the band, also provided great performances and were open to any direction I or the rest of the crew presented as we strove to capture the best shots we could. The differences between each of the band members’ personalities brought a new life to the video as Jay held nothing back, Paul rocked out in the background, and both were held in check by Sean’s cool and stoic demeanor. This was a production that really allowed me to try out different camera and lighting techniques and I was lucky enough to have great performers to focus these techniques on, and these experiences were made all the better by the finished product.
